FIRST CHURCH:  Grace Van R. remains in hospital under doctor’s care.  She is being monitored for medication levels.  Please keep her and her family before the Lord in prayer.  Sisca P. will undergo surgery on November 9.  Please keep her and others awaiting treatment in your prayers as well.  Grace C. remains in hospital following a seizure and pneumonia.  She is hopeful of being home by the weekend.  Johanna S. was in hospital for complications but has since returned home to Copper Terrace.  She was very tired following her hospital stay.  Please pray for one another in both good and difficult circumstances.  Happy Birthday to Mr. Oscar DeB. who is turning 72 on November 5th!  Have a great day!

GRACE CHURCH:  Congratulations to Jon & Jami W. with the birth of their daughter, Elisabeth “Ellie” Anne W. on Wednesday October 19th.  They are currently living in Thunder Bay but if you send them a note to their home address in Tilbury, the mail will be forwarded to them.  We wish them God’s blessings with this little gift.

Please pray for Jessica W. and Paige & Shelly D. who will be traveling to Haiti for a Mission trip with the group AWAKEN Haiti from November 4 until November 13.

BLENHEIM CHURCH:  We continue our prayers for Cor and Johanna B.  Cor received a heavy dose of radiation last week and continues to see doctors.  We also pray for Wouter P. who started new treatments.  We also pray for members of our congregation who are dealing with parents and siblings who need medical care.  As we celebrate the Reformation of the 16th century, we also pray that the gospel may touch the lives of all our loved ones.

REFORMATION DAY SERVICE OFFERING:  The offering for the special Reformation Day Service will be for the Ridgetown Campus Chaplaincy.  This important local ministry at the Ridgetown Campus of the University of Guelph has touched the lives of many students’ faculty and staff.  As many as 50 students come out to the weekly God on Tap sessions to explore topics of faith and life.  Individual students have received coaching and counselling.  Through this ministry Christian young people can explore how their faith impacts other life choices.  Non-Christian students can explore what the Christian faith is and how it differs from their own beliefs.  Anyone who heard students speak at last spring’s chaplaincy gala knows that this program has positively impacted the lives of students from a variety of backgrounds.

A READING EVENT is scheduled for Dance at My Funeral: Dan Steven, a living prophet in a dying age. The book shares the mission of Jan K.’s son, Dan, a 1994 graduate of Chatham Christian High School and singer-songwriter who surrendered his life at 25 to God after diagnosis with a brain tumour. It’s the tale of the amazing miracles of God’s grace in a tough, human journey; it’s also an inspiration for parents and grandparents who’ve raised boundary-breaking teenagers, lived with grief, and know its quixotic melding of sorrow and joy.  Jan’s readings will begin at 7:15 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 in the CCHS gym at 475 Keil Drive South, Chatham. Refreshments will be served.
