EVENING WORSHIP SERVICES AT GRACE CRC:
TONIGHT:
will be a combined Reformation Day service led by
First Reformed Church.
We look forward to celebrating Lord’s Supper in the
evening service on November 20th.
PASTOR’S
COMMENT:

At
a point in his life, Martin Luther was sad;
depressed beyond consoling. One morning, his wife,
Katie, was dressed in mourning clothes. So Luther
asked her who had died. She responded that surely,
God in heaven must be dead. Luther responded that
God could not possibly die—that he is immortal and
will live through all eternity. Katie responded,
“Is that really true?” The dialogue went on for
some time when Katie said to Martin, “Though you do
not doubt that God is in heaven, you remain
hopelessly discouraged. Why is that?” Immediately
Luther’s mood changed, and he responded, “What a
wise woman my wife was, that she mastered my
sadness.” Of course, we all know Luther was used by
God to start the Great Reformation.
TODAY’S
NURSERY ATTENDANTS:
Corina F., Henny K., Kevin G.
Please inform the secretary or your district
elder if there are any announcements or concerns
that you would like to go in the bulletin.
Please have all bulletin items in
by Thursday at 12 noon.

Sunday October 30 – CRC Home Missions:
provides leadership assistance for evangelism and
discipleship to all classes and congregations of the
Christian Reformed Church, so that every CRC,
ministry, and member follows Christ in reconciling
the world to God.
Sunday
November 6 – CRWRC World Hunger:
This year’s CRWRC campaign reminds us that what we
want and what we commit to do are two different
things. Commitment-wholehearted and prayerful-is a
conscious decision. While we might all want hunger
to end, we also need to make a commitment to be part
of the solution. CRWRC joins groups who are
improving farming techniques, teaching adult
literacy, providing small loans to business people,
and taking other steps to find long-term solutions
to poverty.
Pastor On Vacation:
Pastor Jack and Janet will be leaving on vacation
this week. If there are any special needs, please
call your district elder, pastoral care worker, or
deacon. We hope to return by November 18.
KEYS
Class:
KEYS class will meet this Monday at 7 PM. We will
continue our study of Philippians 2. Over the next
three weeks, students are asked to write a 150 word
essay on how the theme of joy in Philippians applies
to their lives. That essay is due on November 22.
Please note, we will not be meeting for the next two
weeks; Pastor Jack is on vacation.
What is God’s
Purpose for you, for our church, and for the World?
On Saturday, November 26, Pastor Jack will lead our
church in a conversation about our purpose as
Christians in the world today. This session will
begin at 9:30 – 1:00 PM; refreshments and a light
lunch will be served. Please contact your district
elder or the chair of Council, Tim B., so we can
prepare in advance.
From
the Library:
Come and check out
some recently purchased books and DVD's for all
ages. There is a sign in sheet on the library
counter for you to fill in any specific books or
movies you would like to see added.
For those who knew
Dan Steven, there's a great book by his mother, Jan
Klooster, called "Dance at my Funeral" available in
our library.
