L. Lord, be a light in our darkness long after Christmas candles die. Give us the Gift that keeps on giving through the ministry of your Spirit. Help us to live with deep-down gladness, knowing that you are present in our world, in our joy, in our loving, in our giving.

P. Lord, on Christmas Day we ask you to accept our laughter and our love, for we cannot be solemn or sad on the birthday of your Son. You demand no gift-exchange, but the present we would make to you is ourselves. With Jesus, our brother, your incredible gift to us, we glorify your name!

PASTOR’S COMMENT:

PASTOR’S COMMENT: Usually when we think of a lord, we think of someone with power, or one with commanding presence, or a person of dignified bearing.  Not so with Jesus.  He was Lord when he was born, even though he gave up the grandeur of heaven, even though he took on human form, and even though he was born in a cattle stall.  Yes, appearances are deceiving.  Today is Christmas; please don’t let the world deceive you into thinking Christmas is anything less than the fact that Jesus is Lord.

MORNING OFFERINGS:

Sunday December 25 – Church Plants: The offering for Church Plants is our denomination's way of sharing the gospel with non-churched people. Classis Chatham has been blessed with several church plants, the most recent is in St. Thomas, where Beth Fellinger has begun a ministry sponsored by the local CRC's. We are given the opportunity to support this work with this offering.

Sunday January 1 – Loads of Love: C-K’s Loads of Love is a multi-faceted faith-based ministry outreach that shares God’s love in a practical way with the needy both locally, in Chatham-Kent and around the world providing clothing, furniture, school supplies, toys, and medical equipment such as canes, wheelchairs, and walkers.
