                                          Highlights

         Of the September 12, 2006 meeting of Classis Chatham

• Mr. Henk Vander Ende, member of our host church Living Hope CRC, Sarnia extended a welcome to the delegates present and led the opening devotions. All churches in classis were present excluding Forest CRC. Our singing this day was Spirit filled and equal to the best.

• Six (6) seminary students are financially supported by Classis Chatham at the present.

• Mr. Richard Veldstra was appointed alternate treasurer replacing Kees Vreugdenhil.

• All six (6) exhorters in Classis Chatham had their licenses extended for another 3 years.

• Mr. Ben Vander Lugt was approved as Exhorter for a one year period.

• Classis agreed to maintain and support the position of Ministry Developer.

• The 2007 classical budget was approved & ministry shares set at $46.55 p/confessing member based on 5440 Professing Members.

• Mr. Oscar De Boer was re-appointed as Classical Treasurer.

• A proposal to combine the positions of Ministry Developer & Stated Clerk was defeated.

• Dr. Justin Cooper brought us greetings and news from Redeemer University/College.

• A Colloquium Doctum (Examination) will be held for Rev. George Saylor in January as this classis declared a “need” with the concurring advice of the Synodical Deputies

• If approved, Rev. George Saylor will become the Church Developer of a new North London church plant.

• A committee will be appointed by the Classical Ministry Committee to assist Forest CRC in their closing process.

• This meeting concluded with thanks to the chairperson of the day, Rev. Pieter Pereboom. We sang the doxology “Praise God from Whom All blessings Flow.”

The next meeting of classis on Jan 23, 2007 will be held D.V. at Westmount CRC, Strathroy.
